My fascination with Dharahara (with Pictures).

May 12, 2015: When I first heard (immediately after the mega-quake on Baishak 12) that the tallest monument (tower) in our Kathmandu is no more, I hardly believed my friends word and asked not to make fun in this traumatic situation. Actually I had no idea of the level of devastation that time as I was out of Kathmandu city, though I had felt the tremor inside a vehicle and even had a narrow escape as big rocks fell in the highway near to the point where we got out. When the devastation was confirmed from online news portals after half an hour, I was very worried for the city I was born and raised, similarly repeated aftershocks made me more fearful for the additional loss of life, buildings and popular heritage sites.

It was only within 2070 and 2071 B.S (Nepali year) that I had climbed the nine storeyed tower to have a spectacular view of the city from there. Both the time I had taken my camera with me. Every time I pass through the Sahidgate (Martyrs Gate) or go inside Sundhara NT office for work, I used to take a picture of Dharhara. Sometimes I had even spent hours watching the sunset between NT tower and Dharhara. I was really fascinated the way Dharahara stands there. Most of my friends who are from Kathmandu have not climbed up the tower, proving the Nepali proverb "Najik ko tirtha hela" meaning: No care for nearby pilgrimage. Reaching Kathmandu when I had first sight from Sahidgate, it gave me a big chills through my body for not seeing the much loved landmark tower there. Not only every Kathmandutians but whole Nepalese are proud of the Dharahara, (which was already shattered twice by mega quakes in 1834 and 1934, then reestablished later) and want to visit at least once. As it was built by First Prime Minister of Nepal: Bhimsen Thapa, it is also known as Bhimsen Sthamba (Tower).

I have seen such tower in different parts of the world, among which I have visited some of them, be it in Europe or in Asia. It seems now that the purpose of tower is to let people have a view of the city but it also marks the history, our ancestors have witnessed. Their importance is not only limited to the tourists coming around, but also to the denizens that makes them proud for the history, culture and tradition. Kathmandu lives with such heritage sites and we do not want to miss every single of them.

Now that the iconic site is no more, few private organizations and international donors have asked for permission to built on their own, but it is known that Government of Nepal and Department of Archaeology won't be letting any private or international organization to rebuild Dharahara. Yes it should be built on our own but we should not be so rigid in taking any help (technology, design wise) from international organizations too. And I am of the view that Dharahara should be built on a separate fund (crowd sourced by Nepali living all over the world), with the same design but using technology that can make it withstand upcoming mega Earthquakes for a century.

How To Install Android M Developer Preview On Nexus 5, 6, 9 & Player

Android M was released at Google I/O 2015 and the developer preview is available to download for Nexus 5, 6, 9 and Nexus player. By installing the android M developer preview on your nexus device you will be able to test your android apps on android M. You can see how they perform and what errors, if any they return. But you should also know that this initial release is not the stable one and may contain errors and bugs. But until the stable update arrives you can download and install it on your nexus device and can test or create your new android app by using the latest android M APIs.

How To Install Android M Developer Preview On Nexus 5, 6, 9 & Player

• Download and install android SDK.
• Download the appropriate android M system image and unpack it in android sdk>platform-tools folder.
• Enable USB debugging on your Nexus device by going to ‘Settings>Development>Debugging’.
• Power of your phone. Connect the nexus device to PC.
• Enter into bootloader mode by pressing and holding ‘volume up’, volume down and power button. Alternatively connect the phone to PC and open a command window in platform-tools folder and run the command ‘adb reboot bootloader’.
• Execute the command ‘fastboot oem unlock’. A prompt will appear on your phone to confirm. It will wipe entire data.
• Now execute ‘flash-all.bat’ command. If you are using a MAC then type ‘flash-all.sh’. This will install the latest android M developer preview on your Nexus 5, 6, 9 and Nexus player.
• After flashing you can again lock the bootloader by typing the following command and executing 'fastboot oem lock'.
• Now go on testing the new http://pinkberrylicious.blogspot.com /2015/05/android-m-preview-release-date-and-new-features.html">android M developer preview.

Note : If anytime you want to go back to your original android firmware then download the nexus image from here and flash it by using the above procedure.

Android Pay - Pay through your Mobile Phones:

I has been rumored that Google will not going to announce about Android Pay at this I/O 2015, even though it is good to hear about Android Pay at this event .

Google Wallet was the first in the race of mobile payments, then came Apple and Samsung come up with Apple Pay and Samsung Pay. Now, Android Pay from Google is in race to directly face off Apple Pay for mobile payments. Android Pay will make use of existing Google Wallet with amazing features like secure transaction, fingerprint verification, and credit card partnership and lots more.

Google Now - Just on Tap:

Google's virtual assistant got updated with Now on tap. No matter what you have on your screen if you ask Now it will tel you the things. Getting the answer made easy with Google Now on tap. Ask for author while reading ebook, bang you will have that with this feature of Now.

Google Jump - 360 degree Cameras:

Google announce 360-degree virtual reality cameras and named this initiative as Google Jump. this camera would have 16 camera arranged in circular position. It would be capable of recording HD film in any direction with 360 degree appearance simultaneously. These recorded videos can be uploaded to YouTube and viewable with Google Cardboard for virtual reality.

Google Wear - Access phone through your Wrist Watch:

Google haven't announced much about this as expected however, announced some updates for map going full wear screen, gesture and new launcher menu. And you can send emoji's to your friends by just drawing them on your Android wear, rest robots will it for you.

Google cardboard has got new in line. It has got easy to assemble design that can handle screen size up to 6-inch. It has got another new feature "Expedition" for collaborating 30 cardboard headsets simultaneously and lets a guide to take viewers to virtual locations.

Apart from these biggest announcement there are so many other things Google announced in this I/O 2015, like Android M and its features, HBO Now on Android, New Photo App with unlimited free storage, Offline Google Maps, Device Sync Activity features internet of things with Brillo, enhanced battery life etc.

OnePlus Two: features, price and release date

In a recent official tweet, says the OnePlus Two design will be completely renovated, in addition to confirming the date of the official announcement. In parallel, a new benchmark issued on the web confirms most OnePlus Two characteristics.

To open a breach in the design, it is reported that the OnePlus Two would have a more premium finish difference to the current One. According to the gossip, it would rely on a solid material: metal! Rather a good thing we could say goodbye to plastic, like Samsung, to enjoy a more robust smartphone, but that will certainly be more expensive marketing. Moreover, the statements all point in this direction.

OnePlus Two: technical specifications

According to the latest rumors, the screen that could be adopted on the OnePlus Two would be smaller than its predecessor. Currently built on a touch screen of 5.5 inches, it is raised that the second iteration would incorporate a screen with a size ranging from 4.7 to 5.2 inches. Short. Several scenarios are possible.
